Chart toppers Wretch 32, Jessie J, Ed Sheeran , Chris Brown, Emeli Sande, win big at the 9th annual Urban Music Awards last night!
It was a successful night at the 9th annual Urban Music Awards which took place last
night in London. Wretch 32 who was up for a record 6 categories walked away with
4 UMA awards including Best single, Best HipHop Act, Best Music Video, and Artist
of the Year. Commenting on his awards the Wretch 32 said “It’s amazing . Last year
i was saying i wish i could perform and win an award at the UMA’s and this year i
am up on stage collecting 4 awards. This is one of my highlights of 2011”.
The UMA’s took place on the 3rd of October with celebrity guests including David Hasselhoff , Caprice, Matt & Darren Little (Channel 4), Natasha Hamilton, and top performances from US R&B superstar Jeremih and this year’s must sought after HipHop star, Mann ft. 50 cent who performed the hit single ‘Buzzin’ . The successful awards show also gave a surprise lifetime achievement award sponsored by WOWeeOne to legendary BBC Radio 1 presenter, Tim Westwood for his outstanding contribution to Urban Music . Tim Westwood added “The Urban Music Awards has been the backbone for British urban music in this country and Europe so to receive such an award. I am truly touched as this is my first ever UMA and is the biggest ever award for what i do. To know that music fans out there have shown this much love is truly touching . Thanks to the UMA’s”. Other performers who blazed the stage included Warner music’s latest signing , Clement Marfo & The Frontline who performed their rendition of Dr. Dre’s ‘I need a Doctor’ and their latest single ‘Overtime’ featuring Rap senstation ‘Ghetts’ . Starboy Nathan, Sony Music’s Bluey Robinson, Will and the People, and BMW award winning comedian Jimmy James Jones also graced the stage with their star ability. The awards show hosted by TV presenter , Tom Pullen who commanded presence and charisma with the long list of celebrities announced the closing performance from the winner of the Best Dance Act category , DJ Fresh ft. Sian Evans who performed one of the biggest hits of 2011, ‘Louder’ to an audience up on their feet and ready to party.
UMA presenter, David Hasselhoff fresh from his stint as judge on Britain’s Got Talent added “It’s great to be here at the Urban Music Awards. Britain has got so much talent and tonight certainly proved it. I particularly love the band Will and the People who definitely were my best act on the night”.

The 9th annual 'Urban Music Awards' took place in London was a success!
The Event took place in london and ''Energy Drinks'' sponsored the scene with +Battery Energy Drink, a brand witch is up and coming throughout the United Kingdom. The night was spent in style and the stars started to pile on to the redcarpet eager for the award ceremony to start.
First to arrive and hot of the 'Britains Got Talent' seat was David Hasslehoff which really got the party started, with his charm and charisma Knightrider star took to the red carpet with his partner Hayley Roberts, the pair enjoyed the night throughout and David presented awards and said ''It’s great to be here at the Urban Music Awards. Britain has got so much talent!''
Channel 4's Matt and Darren Little turned up with cheesy smiles galour ready to present awards aswell as ''Atomic Kittens'' Natasha Hamilton and also Supermodel Caprice! Levi Roots gave a great acapella on stage! The unforgettable face from 'Dragons Den' Spiced up the night and put some music in our souls which got every one in the mood of the Reggae Reggae Singer.

Wretch 32 performed at the event with his UK Hit Single ''Unorthodox'' and took home 4 awards inc. ''Best Artist of the Year'', ''Best Hip Hop Act'', ''Best Single'' , ''Best Music Video''. Jeremiah and Mann show stopped the audience as the American R&B stars arrived dressed to impress! Mann performed his latest global hit single ''Buzzin'' which originally featured 50 cent and Jermiah with his hit ''Birthday Sex''. On the subject of American stars Jam Master J'son (Eldest son of Jam Master Jay) made a quiet enterance on the red carpet, The soft spoken giant was pleasant and relaxed and we spoke of how his autograph is similar to his fathers with a slight modification, unoticeable to most people. He later performed a Dj set at the after party which was mind blowing and probably the most amazing set I have ever been to.
Others performing at the event included Will and the people who have recently signed a deal with Casio for a new keyboard, Clement Marfo & The Frontline who performed their version of Dr. Dre’s ‘I need a Doctor’ and their latest single ‘Overtime’ aswell as DJ Fresh who smashed 'Lounder' featuring Sian Evans. The most recent edition to Uk's urban music scene Starboy Nathan attended along with Uk singer and songwriter Bluey Robinson. 'Made in Chelsea' Tv series characters
I got chatting to Ollie Winiberg from BBC Introuducing, we spoke about how much musical talent was in the room and how the night was such a success, He was genuine and passionate about his work and really nice to share the night with!
Overall the night was packed with stars big and small from American Tv stars to Radio Presenters. The event finished around 12pm and the after party kicked off down in Chelsea. We partyed right up until the early hours with many managers and event organisers with the Dj set run by Jam Master J'son as earlier mentioned. The whole night was a great experience and everyone was talking about the +Battery Energy Drink!
